Once again, I’m starting to work on revamping my freelance business. I have a few good opportunities in the works (you’ll see them pop up on here – don’t worry) and I am working on ideas that will, hopefully, increase my business in the next two years.
Yes. That means I have a two-year plan! Instead of flying by the seat of my pants, I have some actual GOALS that I’m working to achieve. It won’t be easy as it’s much easier to get sidetracked with all the other what-nots of life.
Last week I took a seamstress friend of mine to pick up some fabric. I want to recover my hope chest (should I still be calling that after I’ve turned forty and I’m married?), but I have no sewing skills. It’s not a nuisance type thing – the old fabric is wearing out and it’s just a part of life to replace it. We took the better part of the morning to do so and lunch HAD to be included (what’s a good day out with a friend without lunch?) She helped me with another task, too and we visited with my folks a bit in the process of it all.
Tomorrow, we’re going again – this time for her needs. I’m tagging along to check out a doggy daycare place she’d like to use when she goes away for long periods of time. She has a pit bull mix (one of the sweetest pups you’ll ever meet) and a lot of place don’t take pibbies. (Because they’re ignorant.) So we’re taking a little road trip and taking the dog along. I mean… who can pass up a road trip with a pup to see other puppies?? And lunch will probably be involved.
I’ve also started a New Members Course program through the DAR. It’s on my own time, but I want to get through it at a decent pace. You watch videos and webinars about all the DAR offers and then fill out short questionnaires about what you learned. It helps each new member to understand all that the DAR does. I’ve learned a lot so far and it’s kind of fun. But everything takes up minutes in the day…
I’m still working on this photos for my mom, too. It’s coming along nicely. I scan some in the morning before breakfast or in the evening while the hubs is studying. I’m almost done with the scanning but then I’ll need to crop and save each so we know in the future what the photo represents. It’s been a nice trip down memory lane, though.
In addition to all these things I’m still trying to find new editing clients, keep my home, revamp my office space (stay tuned – it’s almost done!), cook and exercise and spend time with my hubby.
Working from home is hard work!
Have a great week!
